Fireworks by the Beach

Love watching fireworks? I do :) But tonight we've decided to just stay indoors and be a bit more relaxed. We might miss out on some great pyrotechnic displays but it should be alright for a change. New Year's Eve isn't the only time we can watch fireworks anyway :)
On our trip to Hawaii last year, we were able to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display by the beach! This for me is the best way to watch these sparkly firecrackers! The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort - where we stayed at, has a fireworks display every Friday night (so I made sure we were there over the weekend on our way home from Seattle). It was quite an unforgettable experience and I would love to do it again ;)

People gather at the beach by dusk to secure really good spots for the show

We set up our beach towel on the sand so we could lie down and relax anytime :)
Audrey was a year & 9 months old here and Natalie is right there inside my tummy
at almost 6 months (so she actually didn't miss out much haha!)

Little Wahine Audrey in her Hawaiian dress and flower clip :)

It's getting dark and almost time for the fireworks display!

So glad our camera was able to capture the fireworks ;)

Love this shot!

Resort guests, locals and other visitors can enjoy watching this
free fireworks display on Waikiki Beach right by the Rainbow Tower ;)

If you're planning a Hawaiian holiday just make sure you're there on a Friday to catch the fireworks display :)

Happy New Year everyone! :)

Wet n' Wild Water World

Theme Park No. 2 on our Gold Coast Holiday was Wet n' Wild water park. I couldn't wait to take the girls swimming in Buccaneer Bay, a pirate themed kids' area which had shallow pools, fountains and playgrounds. I was also looking forward to riding the Tornado again with my husband - a ride which takes you down a tunnel and spins you around in a giant funnel! Crazy but fun! :P

Audrey was all ready to go swimming!

She was obviously excited :)

Now I don't know who she was hosing down here...hehe!

Buccaneer Bay
This little one loves playing in the water
The Pats (Pat and Patty) were with us and they were our babysitters while my husband and I went on some rides! :) Ah, freedom! hahahaha! Thanks again Pats! ;)

Rode the Black Hole - a pitch black tunnel ride that surprises you with every twist, turn and drop. It was pretty fun! But not as scary as the Aqua Loop which Jonsy and Pat rode while I stayed with the girls and Patty

After swim time is snack time!!

Happy Natalie after a few hours of water fun! :)

Audrey's First Ballet

Last December 7th, Audrey watched her first ballet! :) Thanks to Tita Patty who immediately thought of Audrey and her friend Julia upon getting an invitation from Ballet Philippines for their show, A Christmas Carol :) It was a fun girls' night out!
Audrey even picked out her outfit for that night - a pink dress with a built in tutu skirt plus ballet flats! My little girl is already channeling her inner ballerina :)
I would love to have Audrey take ballet but so far, the ones who offer lessons only accept students starting at age 4. I haven't found any studio in our area offering lessons for toddlers - which I found quite odd because I actually started taking ballet lessons at 2! I just stopped for a couple of years and went back to dancing ballet again till my teenage years. I was already on pointe shoes for quite some time (yes, poor toes! but they're all good now hehe) and passed the examinations for the Royal Academy of Dance (I didn't realize I was quite a serious ballerina haha!). So I really do love and appreciate the ballet! :) And this production didn't disappoint! The choreography was fantastic and the set and props were awesome.

We got some great seats in the CCP Theater and our girls thoroughly enjoyed watching!
I've never seen Audrey watching a show so intently and seriously, with matching applause from time to time!
Ate Julia would also check on how Audrey was especially when the ghosts of Christmas appeared,
but she was doing alright :) Sweet!

We weren't really allowed to take photos of the performance so all we have is a photo of the whole cast afterwards. Audrey's got a big grin on her face and her eyes are all lit up! :)

I think the perfect thought bubble for this photo is, "Bravo! Bravo!" ;)

Doing some ballet moves for our pictures! There were two girls who even asked for a photo with Audrey after the show - they asked if she was a ballerina too! :)

Tamborine Mountain

Queensland, Australia isn't just about beaches. There are very many interesting places to visit and one of them that we enjoyed going to was Tamborine Mountain. It was just a 15-20 minute drive from where we were staying at the Gold Coast.
Upon arriving there, we headed for the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk.

We went here with the whole family! (my in laws ;) )
The Skywalk is the longest canopy walk in South East Queensland, spanning about 300 meters and it is 30 meters above ground! Good thing I'm not really afraid of heights haha ;)

Audrey enjoyed exploring with us :)

I love this daddy and daughter photo :)

This cantilevered Skywalk was an amazing engineering feat - this elevated walkway was 40 meters long and would sway a bit, but it was still secure and stable.

After the Skywalk, we headed over to Main Avenue to grab some lunch

The girls were happy (and sleepy) after all that yummy food
We checked out some wineries along Long Road, Gallery Walk (but since we don't really drink, that's all we did - check, hehe plus take pictures)
We then headed over to Granny Macs - for the best fudge according to our hosts! We got some really yummy fudge flavors like salted caramel, dark chocolate macadamia, milk chocolate, and my childhood favorite - bubble gum flavor! We also got some Violet Crumble ice cream (which was to die for!) and coffee! :) Fun!

Our Christmas Tree

Before mid November set in, I made sure our Christmas tree was up. I knew the girls would want to help decorate it - especially since this year Natalie was already walking and moving around and about. Best of all, she loved doing things with her big sis so decorating the tree was something I knew they would enjoy together.

For about two weeks, our tree only had decors on the lower portion. As you can see, this is only up to the level where both Natalie and Audrey could reach :) They were so excited to put the silver and blue Christmas balls and the random placement was pretty cute ;)

By December I wanted to add more decor to the tree. And since I don't really like frilly decorations around the house, I had to come up with a creative yet simple and modern way to jazz up the tree.
Thanks to the internet, I found some really great ideas to help me out! :) (can't take all the credit! I'm a busy working mom and my brain cells are needed for work and playtime activities! haha!). When I saw a tree online decorated with just different colored Christmas balls and lights, and nothing else really (which is more my style!), I got excited! :) So I decided to get Christmas balls in rainbow colors (plus pink!) for our tree ;)

My little elves went back to work and helped me complete my Rainbow Christmas Tree! Since most of the balls were on sale when I got them, they didn't come with a string for hanging and I had to make one for each (you get what you pay for! hehe). So when I would complete a set of colors, Audrey and Natalie would help me by bringing them in their mini grocery cart! :) They had so much fun and so did I! ;)

Before I finished the tree though, the girls already left me and went in to rest haha! All of that toddler energy was used up pretty well shuttling the decor back and forth (combined with playing in the room) ;) And so when I was finally done, I called them and I was so happy to hear Audrey's big "Wow! our rainbow tree is ready!" :) My husband then got to work putting on the lights for the final touch! Thanks Dada! :)
It was an awesome day decorating the tree with everyone in my family! :)

    Happy Holidays! :)

Family Photos

When my baby sister Natalie was exactly 14 months old (that would be last November!), we had our family photos taken by Tita Sheila Catilo. And as with all the other pictures that she took of us in the past, these turned out to be beautiful :) Take a look and see!

I love the outdoors! It made a great backdrop for our photos :)
So I was doing the side profile smile here... how does it look? ;)
This is one of mom's favorite shots - everyone was smiling!
(except Natalie didn't show her teeth, she has 3! heehee)
Mama asked for a kiss from me so she got one!
And then she asked for one from Natalie too! :) Lucky lucky!

Playing with bubbles! my favorite :)
We had so much fun! :) :) :) :)

We have so many more photos but we'll share them next time! :)
There are just too many awesome shots! ;)
