Sometimes
when my baby would start getting bored or fussy, I would pick her up from her
crib and carry her. This would usually solve the problem, but there are times
when it doesn’t. She just squirms and tries to reach out for things that
interest her while she’s being carried. It seems as though she is restless and
it is then that I realize that she just needs to relax and wind down – but with
me nearby.
And so I put her down on her crib and rub
her back. I place her in a comfortable position and start kissing her face,
neck, fingers, arms, toes and legs until she gets sleepy. At first I hear a
little laugh – she may have gotten a little ticklish when mama kissed her neck and tummy J And as I kiss her face some more her eyes
would start closing and opening slowly. And I don’t stop kissing her till she
falls asleep.
I just love that I get to do this. What a
wonderful way to put my baby to sleep! ;) she actually loves my kisses! But
more than that, I am so honored that my presence and touch gives her so much
security. It makes her settle down and relax. It makes sleeping easy.
Knowing that I am present and there by her
side puts her at peace.
This makes me think about our heavenly
Father. Knowing that He is present puts me at ease. It gives me peace and
security.
Sometimes we feel that God should be
carrying us in the midst of our trials and troubles – that He should be the one
fixing all of our problems for us. We feel there are things that are too much
for us to bear.
There are times when it gets so difficult that we wonder if He is present at all. BUT, He is near. He is always by our side. He gives us peace, comfort, security. He is close by. If we know this in our hearts, our worries and anxieties will no longer be as big as we perceive them to be. All we need to know is that God is with us. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. He will always be there for us.
