Paper Plate Piggies

It's late at night (or early in the morning), and while browsing through my files I came across these photos of the girls taken while they were doing our Arts and Crafts activities last month - and they just brought a smile to my face.
I've been busy with work again and my other blog posts are still hanging in the air, awaiting completion. But now I can't help but post this entry. I just had to. If you have kids and want to do an activity with them, this might help give you ideas. And if you don't have kids yet, I think the girls' photos might entertain you at the very least. I sure hope they will! :)

The very happy Crafters are ready for the challenge!

The Inspiration!
Audrey suggested we make some piggies so I had to find
a visual inspiration to help us out. This is a page from Sandra Boynton's
book Moo Baa La La La

The Materials:
Paper plates (left over from Natalie's birthday party last year), colored construction paper,
wiggle eyes (from a crafts set given to us as a gift), glue, scissors, masking tape,
yarn or string, popsicle sticks, stapler, ribbons, Japanese paper
(optional: for the pig's clothing should you decide to dress it up ;) )

Cut out colored paper: triangles for the ears, an oval for the nose,
and get small round pieces of paper for nose holes from a puncher ;)
Use the yarn or string for the mouth. Glue them all!

Ready with their paper plates!

I love it when they're this happy and funny ;D

The Paper Plate Piggies!
On the left is Natalie's piggy - which I actually made because by the time I was
helping her stick the wiggly eyes, she decided she wanted to do something else hehe!
On the right is Audrey's piggy - she stuck the ears, nose, nose holes and placed
the eyes a little closer together because she says this is a baby piggy. It was
quite cute that our piggies looked a bit different from each other :)
She also wanted to put popsicle stick legs on her piggy so I helped her tape
them on the back of the plate. The head and body were stapled together
and we added satin ribbons to dress them up.

Meanwhile, Natalie kept smiling for the camera! :D
Natalie's piggy resting in bed
Audrey's piggy in pink!
Our inspiration wore stripey pajamas but I suggested we make
a pink nightgown instead and added another ribbon ;)
'Twas a whole lot of fun working on these with the girls! :)

My Fave Goodies from #SpringFlingPH

As you already know, I had the privilege of attending Spring Fling two weekends ago. This was an event put together by Patty Laurel, Kelly Misa and Alessandra Lanot to showcase their respective passions: food, fashion and crafts.
As one of their guests, I got to discover their favorites - and bring them home too! :) Take a look at my personal favorites from all their giveaways!
I got these just in time for summer!
Sunglasses by Icon Eyewear, Beach blanket by Lagu
and Capas by La Tercera

These comfy and stylish sandals are from Lulu Swing :)
This one is from their new collection and it's called Stay.
Do check out their Scoop and Concord sandals - so pretty as well!

I love this capas (kimono) by La Tercera Online! This style
fits me perfectly and the print is beautiful.

And I can't wait to try this sand-repelling beach blanket from Lagu ---
time to head back to the beach! hehe!

This embroidered pouch from L'indochine is also very intricate and pretty!
When I first saw it I already knew that it would be perfect for keeping my
little girls' clips and accessories! ;) (or my makeup!)

We also got a 2-month free pass for Pilates classes in One Life Studio
Greenhills and Makati! (opening in June 2014) yahoo!!! :)

And although I wasn't able to provide a photo, I just have to mention how much I LOVE the Vegan Oatmeal Choco Chip Cookies and Taro Chips from Pipino Vegetarian that they gave us at the event as well! The moment I opened both, my family and I just munched away! (which explains why there aren't any photos :P) They were awesome vegetarian treats I tell you! :9

God Knows Best

Let me tell you a story.
For my firstborn, I thought it would be nice to have a son. Of course I wanted to have a girl too eventually, but I was hoping that my eldest would be a boy so that his younger siblings can have a big brother to look out for them. I just thought it would be good and ideal.
    But God had other plans.
He blessed us with a daughter and life has been nothing but good. I was so happy and grateful for Audrey. Having a daughter was truly wonderful and sweet in every way.
When my second pregnancy was confirmed, I thought it would be nice to have a son - so we could have one of each. But again, God blessed us with a daughter. And let me tell you, I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I say this because every day that I see my two girls together - I am thankful. They way they play and laugh together makes me smile - even in the late hours of the night or the wee hours of the morning when I remember how the day has been like (yes, this mama still thinks about her girls after a long day with them and after they're asleep). I just love the way they are towards each other. The silly laughter and girly giggles echo in my head and I can't help but laugh too. The way they play with their baby dolls are so adorable. They put them in mini strollers and push them around, sometimes racing and then bursting into shrieks and fits of laughter. And with matching doctor's kits they give them check ups too. I even volunteer to be their patient just to get in on the fun ;)
I love watching them play pretend whether it be a tea party, picnic, camping, or princess and fairies. And during those times when they do fight and I have to help make things better - my heart just melts whenever they make up with a hug, a kiss or a squeal of delight. Suddenly all is well just like that.
Maybe some wouldn't share my appreciation for having two girls. But my eyes have seen why having two of them are so precious. So special. It's a sisterly bond that I can't quite describe. It's just heartwarming.
I've always said this to expecting friends who have their preferences for gender - that God will always give you the perfect one for you. Even if it isn't the one you were expecting or hoping for. Because God knows best. He knows you better than you know yourself. He knows what will warm your heart. He knows what will make you smile, day and night. Whether it be girls, or boys, or a combination of both - He knows what will work with His grand plan for your life.
And as for me, I am just over and beyond grateful. Because I love what I have. I love what He has given me. And I want to enjoy this blessing to the full. :)

To my little girls Audrey and Natalie - you always inspire me and make me laugh.
I am truly blessed to be your mama :)

Design Magazine Features: Real Living & Condo Living

While I was pregnant with Natalie, I had two other babies to take care of --- home design projects for two ladies who are good friends and completed the decor of their homes with their own personal touch. I am happy to share that they were featured in two different design magazines and now serves as an inspiration to others.
Real Living Magazine features the interiors of the house that I designed for Gigi Gonzales-Uson and her family - one of my favorite clients ever :) Working with them was the most pleasant and stress-free experience I've had while designing and building a house. It was truly a blessing especially since I was expecting a baby during our most crucial design stages. But it went by smoothly and so did the construction stage. Here are a few pages from Real Living magazine's April 2014 issue.

Nooks and Details

More details of Gigi and Mario Uson's house are shown in the magazine. You can get a lot of DIY design tips and ideas if you get to grab a copy :) There are also a lot of other featured homes that are just as beautiful and interesting.

Condo Living Magazine featured my in-laws' Patty and Patrick's abode. We had to renovate their loft area to fit in the spaces that they needed and to create a more modern look. I remember finishing the project close to Natalie's due date and because the Pats were easy to work with, helping them out was fun and hassle free :)
Here are some photos from the magazine.

Spring Fling

If there was a party that I wouldn't want to miss ever, it would be this! The Spring Fling event put together by Patty Laurel, Kelly Misa and Alessandra Lanot was an awesome way to celebrate what their blogs were all about --- food, fashion and crafts. And because I love and appreciate all of these, I can't tell you enough how much fun I had! :)

The lovely girls of #SpringFlingPH

Part of the reason why I was looking forward to Spring Fling was that it was
going to be held at Early Bird Breakfast Club, one of my favorite restos! ;)

A lot of pretty ladies were invited to this event ;) And speaking of events, Spring Fling came to life because of our wonderful events coordinator friend Marge Montemayor together with Kakee Tingzon of Events By Marge.
The TSO girls Bea Marquez and Jaresa Felipe were also there to capture moments on film ;)

Kelly talked about fashion trends for summer, Patty gave each of us beach
blankets by Lagu and Rissa Mananquil Trillo gave Happy Skin personalized
makeup kits for each of the guests :) Wait, it gets better!

All the foodies rejoiced because the Early Bird Breakfast Club gave us
samplers of Patty's favorite dishes in their menu!!! :9

Clockwise from left: French Toast Fondue, Nutella Banana French Toasties (my favorite!),
Yin & Yang Champorado (another favorite!), Poached Salmon Aioli and
Ultimate Grilled Cheese with Roasted Tomato Soup.
Everything was sooooooo good!!!

Took a photo with Rica's phone before starting the Craft Session! I then realized that
I hardly took my own photos because I was too busy sampling the food and
checking out the awesome giveaways! haha! Thanks Rica for posting this on your IG :)
And thanks Patty, Alessa and Chris Clemente for sharing your photos too!

We had to do Brush Calligraphy and I'm telling you, it isn't as easy as it looks!
There's a special technique that you need to master and it will take practice,
practice and more practice ;)

We were asked to write our favorite quote using a brush calligraphy pen
and the colored Sharpie markers... and we were only given 10 minutes to
complete our work! Pressure!!! hahaha!

I was fortunate enough to be picked as one of the top 3! :) yahoo!!!
I got to take home a set of colored Sharpie markers (which I really wanted! haha!)
Rica and Cat were the lucky raffle winners - taking home a Cagliari
cappucino machine and coffee (I really love this Italian coffee brand!) and
a 3-in-1 Canon pixma printer! But I'm not complaining! hehe :) :)

More photos of the lucky ones!

My girls came by with their dad to pick me up already... but I begged
to stay a few more minutes haha! Who wouldn't?! They had fun too :)

We each got one of these cute Joan & Klaire tote bags

Clockwise from left: We got these cute Early Bird Breakfast Club mini blank notebooks, Tresemme
and Pond's products, Happy Skin lip gloss, blush, eyeliners and liquid foundation and La Tercera kimonos

These were all the goodies that I got to take home with me!!!
L'Indochine gave us an embroidered pouch, Guess gave us towels, Lulu Swing
gave us sandals and personalized the packaging too, Icon Eyewear gave away sunglasses,
Goody gave accessories and although not in the photos because they've made
their way into my tummy (hehe) - My Little Buttercup gave us yummy cupcakes and
Pipino Vegetarian gave a take home bag with Taro Chips,
Vegan Oatmeal Choco Chip Cookies, and pasta sauces!

Now isn't that totally awesome??! :)
Yup, I really think so :)

Thank you again Patty, Kelly and Alessa!!! :)

Best Friends Are We

Whenever people learn that Audrey and Natalie are only two years apart, I would get this comment every now and then:

"Either they will be the best of friends or the worst enemies."

Of course I am hoping and praying (and believing!) that it will be the first - that they will be the best of friends. And even though I see them fight over a toy from time to time, I also am happy to say that they are very sweet towards each other oftentimes. I see Audrey genuinely caring for her little sis, and Natalie showing love for her through affectionate gestures. As their mom, I am definitely going to keep praying for them to have a wonderful and loving relationship with each other until they grow old. I would want nothing more.

I enjoy watching these two girls play, talk (yes, believe it or not haha),
sing, dance, paint, draw, goof around and walk hand in hand!

Exploring is so much more fun with someone!

Love! :)

If you've seen the Broadway musical Wicked, chances are you know who Galinda is ;) And although this popular girl's character was on the vain and capricious side, she was also beautiful, bubbly, hilarious and absolutely entertaining! She kept me laughing in my seat while watching!
Now let's focus on Guh-linda's (this is how she pronounces her name) good points because we seem to have found a mini version of her in our little daughter! hehe! We just found these photos so funny and amusing! My husband was the one who actually pointed it out because I had no idea Audrey's been coming up with all of these poses (I was in the picture too carrying Natalie - and yes, I cropped myself out - my poses weren't entertaining enough for this post hahaha!).

I think the outfit made her do it! How could she resist from not posing in
that cute floppy sunhat and girly swimsuit? :) tee hee!

Audrey and Me

Almost two years ago now (when I was exactly 4 months pregnant with Natalie), Audrey and I had a photo shoot with our photographer friend Krissy. Audrey also met her very first pet - Daisy the bunny :) See our lovely mother and daughter moments captured on film.

20-month old Audrey!

"Audrey, meet Daisy!" :)

Krissy gave Daisy to Audrey and we took her home with us after the shoot :)
Audrey fondly called her 'babbit' :)

Our bunny loved lettuce leaves!

Check out Daisy looking straight at the camera hehe

Got a bit tired playing and had a bite of some refreshing watermelon!

Reading Audrey's favorite books

We're at it again after recharging!

This one's my favorite! Looks familiar huh? ;)
